PORSCHE JUST REVEALED THE MOST POWERFUL 911 TURBO YET

The legacy of the Porsche 911 Turbo bears no repeating. Its supercar-level power and performance is matched only by its iconic style. Now, the new generation Turbo S brings the same level of craftsmanship to the coupe and cabriolet models, but majorly ups the power ante. Welcome to quickest and most powerful 911 Turbo yet.

Like its predecessor, power comes from a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine. Though the displacement is the same as the 991, the new engine delivers 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque – that’s 60 more horses and 37 more lb-ft than before – thanks to larger variable-turbine-geometry (VTG) turbochargers with electrically adjustable wastegate flaps and a redesigned air-cooling system. The engine has an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and an all-wheel drive system that can deliver up to 62 percent of the engine torque to the front axle, should you need it.

The new 911 Turbo S is also a full second faster than its predecessor, sprinting from zero to 200 km/h at 8.9 seconds thanks to the all-wheel-drive system works harmoniously with the Porsche Traction Management (PTM). Faster and more adaptive dampers allow for better handling, steering and cornering speeds. An additional 1.8 inches to the front tracks and 0.8 inch wider in back improve traction and stability in all conditions, especially on the racetrack. After all, the first-ever Porsche won the first race it entered. That’s a legacy worth building on.

The 911 Turbo S will be available from April 2020 with pricing starting at CAD$231,700 for the coupe and CAD$246,300 for the cabriolet.
