BANKSY’S IDENTITY IS FINALLY REVEALED AS ONE-HALF OF TRIP-HOP DUO MASSIVE ATTACK

A Scottish journalist has finally solved one of the world’s great mysteries – no, not the exact ingredients that go into Colonel Sanders’ secret recipe, that came out last week, but rather the identity of the world’s most famous street artist, Banksy.

According to Craig Williams, the street artist is actually Robert “3D” Del Naja, one half of Bristol trip-hop duo, Massive Attack. And what evidence does he have to support these claims? Well, none really, but Williams’s extensive use of Google search has revealed that the appearance of numerous Banksy murals dovetails with the dates that Massive Attack have been scheduled to perform at nearby venues.

Although tenuous, Williams does list several dozen locations of Banksy’s work alongside Massive Attack’s tour dates and they do kind of match up. Add in the fact that Del Naja happens to be a respected graffiti artist himself – one that Banksy, also a Bristol native – has cited as an influence, and there might be some substance to these claims.

Or they could be completely rubbish. It’s equally as likely that Banksy is one of Massive Attack’s roadies. Who knows? And considering that Banksy is about as passé as Rage Against the Machine, does anyone honestly care?

But let’s not forget that it wasn’t that long ago that scientists claimed to have discovered the artist’s identity by using geographic profiling, and it wasn’t Robert Del Naja or anyone in Massive Attack for that matter.
