BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN TO RELEASE 'CHAPTER AND VERSE' COMPANION ALBUM WITH AUTOBIOGRAPHY LAUNCH
Bruce Springsteen turns 67 on September 23, but it's his fans who will be getting a big present: the release of his 500-page autobiography coupled with a new album.
The book -- titled Born to Run -- will arrive Sept. 27, four days before the release of its 18-track musical companion piece,Chapter and Verse. The record will feature five previously unreleased songs that reflect the themes and sections of the book. The compilation will kick off with two tracks from The Boss' high school band, The Castiles, and winds all the way through to 2012's "Wrecking Ball."
It will also feature recordings from the Steel Mill and Bruce Springsteen Band, featuring musicians who went on to perform in the E Street Band, as well as solo demos of "Henry Boy" and "Growin' Up" that were recorded in 1972, just before Springsteen began work on his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.
Chapter and Verse will be available in single CD and double LP configurations with lyrics and rare photos, as well as digital downloads and streams.
